Reflection
In revising this Rhetorical Self-Analysis assignment, I made several purposeful changes that reflect my growing understanding of Design/Visual Rhetoric. To avoid overcrowding the page and create a cleaner, more balanced layout, I removed several photos. I then restructured the placement of the remaining images, moving them out of a separate “Part 3 – Evidence” section at the end and integrating them directly into Part 2 alongside the paragraphs they support. I also added specific, explanatory captions for each image that explicitly connect the visuals to my written analysis. Finally, I changed the text justification from left-aligned to fully justified, giving the entire piece a clean, professional block-like appearance that works harmoniously with the photographs.
These revisions demonstrate how Design/Visual Rhetoric functions as a powerful tool for strengthening written work. By thoughtfully selecting images, improving their placement and integration, crafting meaningful captions, and refining the overall layout, I transformed the visuals from disconnected supplements into active, supportive elements of my argument about rhetorical self-presentation.
The feedback I received on this assignment encouraged me to consider how every design choice—spacing, organization, image selection, and text formatting—affects audience understanding and the overall impact of the piece. This process showed me that effective visual rhetoric is not just about adding pictures, but about making intentional decisions that enhance clarity, cohesion, and meaning.
